Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary

On top of the Jhandi Dhar hills in the Himalayas Binsar National park is located. It is situated in the middle Himalayas near Almora. In this park numbers of animals and birds. These are leopard, civet cat, serow, gharial, musk deer, brown bear and khaliji pheasant etc. This Park is established in 1988. In the 11th to 18th centuries it was the summer capital of the Chand Raj kings.  It covers the Area 45 square km. From Binsar at Zero Point  there is a clear view of the holy shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath and Gangotri.

Flora and Fauna

There are many types of Flora and Fauna in this national park.

Flora : In the  variety of flora there are 25 types of trees variety, 24 types of Bushes variety, 7 types of grass variety etc. There are many number of flowers in this park. The most popular is ruby red rhododendron.

Fauna : There are more than 200 species of Birds and animals in this national park. The  mammals in this park are : Leopard, Himalayan Goral, Musk Deer, Jungle Cat, Black Bear, Red Fox, Gray Langur etc. and the birds are : Blackbirds, kalij pheasant, koklas, eagles, Woodpeekars etc.
