Desert National Park

In the state of Rajasthan, India there are many places to visit. There are many beautiful places and National park to visit. Desert National Park is one of them. This park is located in the near the town of Jaisalmer. The distance of Jaisalmer is 40 km from Desert National Park. This park covers an area of 3162 sq. km. Around 20 per cent of the park area is covered with sand dunes consisting of craggy rocks, compact salt lake bottoms, inter-medial areas and fixed dunes. This park was established in the year of 1992. There are different kinds of flora and fauna found in this park. There are many attractions in this park. Major attractions are Great Indian Busturd and The Thar Desert Ecosystem. There are many activities in this park i.e.  Jeep safari, Camping, Bonfire and bird watching etc. Rajasthani, Hindi, English languages are used in this place. This park is best for Nature Lovers and Experience Seekers. The ideal duration of this park is 4-5 hours.

For visiting the park, you need to take a prior permission from the Desert National park office and office of the District Magistrate, Jaisalmer.

Flora and Fauna

Flora : There are different species of flora’s found in this national park. Ronj, Khair, Rohira, Dhok, Khejri, Palm trees, Ber, Aak shrub, Sewan grass etc. flora's are found in this national park.

Fauna : There are different kinds of fauna’s found in this national park. There are different species of Birds, Mammals, Reptiles are found in this park. These are Great Indian Bustard, Falcons, Eagles, Vultures, Bee-Eaters, Shrikes, Larks, Demoiselle Crane, Macqueen’s Bustard, Sandgrouse, Long-Legged, Honey Buzzards, chats, babblers, kites, Russell’s viper, Saw Scaled Viper, Monitor Lizard, Spiny tailed lizard, Saw scaled viper, Common Krait, Spiny Tailed Lizard, Gecko, Persian Gecko, Camel, Desert Fox, Bengal Fox, Chinkara, Wolf, Desert Cat, Blackbuck, Hedgehog, Nilgai etc.

The park is open all days of week except Sunday. The timing of the park is 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

The best time to visit in Desert National Park is from November to March.

In Summer : The temperature in the summer is 25 degree Celsius to 44 degree Celsius.

In Winter :  The temperature in the winter is 5 degree Celsius to 24 degree Celsius.
