Goa, The Coolest Place

Goa the coolest place of India is a state in the South India, bounded by Maharashtra to the north and Karnataka to east and south while the Arabian Sea forms its western coast. Goa is smallest state by area of India and the Forth smallest state by the population. The most important in India is Kingdom of Goa which is civilized , having famous orchards and water. People from all the world make practice of going to Goa to enjoy the shades and groves of trees and to savour the betel. Goa is a multifaceted jewel in the crown of India. It is a frame of mind and body, spirit and soul. Goa is an unfading memory. Goa is one of India's richest states with a GDP per capita two and a half times that of the country.

History

The rock art engravings, the earliest traces of human life in India. on the bank of the river Kushavati at Usgalimal, Upper Paleolithic or Mesolithic rock art engravings have been found.  In many places in Goa, Cones, choppers, stone-axe were found. Goa was a part of Maurya Empire, ruled by Buddhist emperor. Buddhist monks laid the foundation of Buddhism in Goa. Goa was successively ruled by the Kadambas as the feudatories of the Chalukyas of Kalyani, Over the next few centuries.

Goa came under the Delhi Sultanate in 1312. As the kingdom was weak on the region so in 1370  it was forced to surrender it to Harihara 1 of the Vijyanagara empire. The ruling Bijapur sultan Yousuf Adil Shah was defeated by the Portuguese with the help of a local ally. After India gained independence from the British in 1947, India requested that Portuguese territories on the Indian subcontinent be ceded to India but Protuguese refused to negotiate. On 19 December 1961, the Indian Army began military operations with Operation Vijay resulting in the annexation of Goa. On 30 May 1987, the union territory was split, and Goa was made India's twenty-fifth state and was organised  as a centrally administered union territory of India.

By Rail - Madgaon and Thivim are the two major Railheads in Goa.
