Indravati National Park

In the state of Chattisgarh, India there are number of national park for visit. Indravati National Park is one of the famous national park in Chattisgarh. This park is located in the district of Bijapur.

Indravati National Park is also known as Kutru National Park.

The national Park is famous for its unique and diverse wildlife and bird species. Jagdalpur is the nearest city from Indravati National Park. This national park covers the area 1258.37 sq.km. Indravati National Park was established in the year of 1983. Hindi language is used in this place. In this park the type of forest is Tropical deciduous forest. This park derives its name from the nearby Indravati river.

History

In the year of 1981 the government of Madhya Pradesh founded the Indravati National Park. The anme of the park was derived from the Indravati River, this park formed the river as boundary in its northern portion. It was previously called Kutru National Park and in the year of 1983 park was added Tiger Project.

Flora and Fauna

Flora : There are different kinds of flora's found in this national park. The name list of flora are Sal, Teak, Bamboo, Lendia, Salai, Mahua, Tendu, Semal, Haldu, Ber, Jamun, Dhaora, Dhoban, Siras, Bija, Char, Karra, Kullu, Shisham, Semal, Arjun, Bel, Rohan, Bahera, Mundi, Palas Etc.

Fauna : There are different kinds of fauna's find in this national park. There are different categories of mammals, birds, reptiles are found in this national park.

  • Mammals : Tiger, Wild buffalo, Monkey, Chital, Barking Deer, Langurs,  Nilgai, Gaur, Porcupine, Barasingha, Leopard, Striped Hyena, Sambar, Chausingha, Sloth Bear, Dhole,  Wild Boar, Flying Squirrel, Pangolins etc.
  • Birds : Hill myna, Parrots, Spotted Owlet, Racket-tailed Drongos, Peacocks,  Steppe Eagles, Red Spur Fall, Red Jungle Fowls, Phakta, Teeter etc.
  • Reptiles : Crocodile, Indian Rock Python, Monitor Lizard, Indian Chameleon, Common Krait,  Cobra, Russell’s viper etc.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Indravati National Park is from Mid December to Mid June.

In Summer : The temperature in the summer is 22 degree Celsius to 40 degree Celsius.

In Winter : The temperature in the winter is 12 degree Celsius to 33 degree Celsius.
