In the State of Rajasthan, India there is a beautiful city to visit called Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer is also known as "The Golden Fort". It is also a nickname of Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer is also known as "The Sun City". It is a world heritage site. The town stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone. It is the largest district of Rajasthan. The major attraction of this place is Jaisalmer Fort. Rajasthani, Hindi, Urdu and English languages are mostly used in this place.  In Jaisalmer there is Desert National Park which offers rugged crags, desert foxes and chinkaras amid the rolling dunes and waterholes.   • Ramdevra Fair : This festival is celebrated in the months of August or September in the village of Ramdevra situated near Jaisalmer.
  • Desert Festival : This festival is celebrated in the month of February in Jaisalmer.
  • Basant Panchami : This festival is celebrated in the month of February in the beginning of spring season in Jaisalmer.

In the 1156 A.D the city was founded by the Maharawal Jaisal Singh. He was a Rajput king.The name Jaisalmer means  "The Hill Fort of Jaisal". It is also called as the "Golden City of India" because of the yellow sand and its surrounding areas.
