Van Vihar National Park

In the State of Madhya Pradesh, India there are many places to visit. Van Vihar National Park is one of them. This park is located in Bhopal. Van Vihar lies on a hill near the Upper Lake. This park covers an area of 4.45 sq. km. The park was established in the year of 1979 and declared as national park in 18 Feb. 1983. Many visitors come in this national in every year. This park is home to rich Biodiversity.  There are different species of flora and fauna present in this park. There are 200 species of birds, 60 species of butterfly in this park. The national park is good  for Nature Lovers, Experience Seekers and Photo Fanatics. There are many attractions  in the park. The major attraction of the park is Albino Sloth bear and the White tiger. The ideal duration of this place is 2-3 hours.

Flora and Fauna

Flora : There are different species of flora’s found in this national park. Sal, Bel, Amaltas, Babul, Reunjha, Doodhi, Lendia, Saja, Amla, Aak, Karonda, Besharam, Tendu etc. flora are found in this national park.

Fauna : There are different kinds of fauna’s found in this national park. Tigers, White Tiger, Lion, Leopard, White bears, Sloth Bear, Hyena, Cheetal, Sambar, Nilgai, Panthers, Jackals, Jungle cats, Blackbuck, Common Langur, Rhesus macaque, Wild-boar, Porcupine, Hare, Blue Bull, Monkey, Mongoose, Wild dogs, Crocodiles, Alligators, Pythons, Cobras, Monitor lizard, Tortoise, Turtles, Peacocks, Munias, barlets, Wagtails, Bulbuls, Orioles, Kala Teetar, Blue Kingfisher, Phakta, Tree Pie, Drongo, Pintail, Spot bill, Brahminy duck, Gadwall, Red crested pochard, Barheaded goose, Cotton teal, Spoonbill, Painted stork, Purple heron, Common pariah kite, Great horned owl, Shikra, Marsh harrier, Tawny eagle, kestrel etc. fauna's are found in this national park.

In Summer : 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

In Winter : 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Video Camera : Rs. 300/-

Entry for school & college children and senior citizens is free at the park.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit in the months of July to September.


In Summer :  The temperature in summer is 23 degree Celsius to 47 degree Celsius.

In Winter : The temperature in the winter is 8 degree Celsius to 24 degree Celsius.

By Air : Raja Bhoj Airport is the nearest airport. This airport is located in the Bhopal. The distance of this airport is 6 km from Van Vihar National Park.

By Rail :  Bhopal Junction railway station is the nearest railway station. The distance of this railway station is 5 km from Van Vihar National Park.
