Vivekananda Rock Memorial

Vivekananda Rock Memorial is the situated in Vavathurai district in the state of Kanyakumari, India and is the most popular tourist monument. The memorial stands on the one of two rocks located in the east off mainland of Vavathurai, the southern most tips of India. It was built in 1970 in honour of Swami Vivekananda who is said to have attained enlightenment on the rock. According to local legends, it was on this rock that Goddess Kumari performed austerity. A meditation hall (Dhyana Mandapam) is also attached to the memorial for visitors to meditate.

Dampa Tiger Reserve

Dampa Wildlife Sanctuary or Dampa Tiger Reserve, the largest wildlife sanctuary, was notified in 1985 and declared a Tiger Reserve in 1994. The Dampa Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Kolasib district in the state of Mizoram. The sanctuary lies at a distance of about 130kms from Aizawl. The sanctuary covers a wide area of around 550 sq.kms, which is very rich in natural vegetation cover. Bhaja Caves

Bhaja caves is the group of 22 caves that are made from rock cut dated back to the 2 century BC . It is located in Pune, near Lonavala, Maharshtra. The caves are 400 feet above the village of Bhaja, on an important ancient trade route running from the Arabian Sea eastward into the Deccan Plateau. The inscriptions and the cave temple are protected as a National Monument, by the Archaeological Survey of India per Notification No. 2407-A. The most prominent excavation is its chaityagrha (Cave 12), demonstrating prototypes of wooden architecture and a vaulted horseshoe ceiling. Its vihara (Cave 18) has a pillared verandah in front and is adorned with unique reliefs. These caves are notable for their indications of the awareness of wooden architecture. The carvings prove that tabla – a percussion instrument – was used in India for at least two thousand years. The carving shows a woman playing tabla and another woman, performing dance.

Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary

Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary is located near Warangal town in the state of Telangana and is one of the oldest grand sanctuaries in India. This large sanctuary covers 812 sq. km. of dry deciduous mixed forests. The vegetation here is tropical dry deciduous with teak and other trees of good quality standing 60ft and above. The area is mostly plain with some hilly terrain at altitude ranging from 200-450 metres with many streams and springs. It has teak and other trees of good quality standing 60 feet and above. It was declared a sanctuary in 1952. The area is full of steep and gentle slopes.
